Dusseldorf International Airport (DUS/EDDL)
Düsseldorf Airport is the third largest airport in Germany (after Frankfurt am Main and Munich, above Hamburg) and the 14th largest in Europe, with around 750 take-offs and landings each day.
The modern development of the airport was in the aftermath of a catastrophic and tragic fire. The fire on April 12, 1996 killed 16 people and injured more than 100.
In early 1997, the architects of JSK Perkins & Will were appointed to design the new terminal, a design that won the competition and was selected for “with the largest expansion potential, both in air and on land, to be implemented in various stages ».
The airport remained decisively operational throughout the works. It continued to serve 45,000 passengers daily throughout the first phase, which was completed in March 2001.
